On December 19th, we were joined by Kaitlyn Sharpless, founder of Felix.Fortis. Golf Strength & Conditioning. Sharpless is on a mission to “bridge the gap” between the golf world and modern strength training.
Suffering through an over-use lower back injury while playing on the Methodist University Womens Golf team, Sharpless discovered a passion for connecting human movement and the golf swing.
Sharpless wants to help all golfers – regardless of age, gender or ability – move better, get stronger, avoid injury and play better golf.
On the show, Sharpless offered simple, practical and easy-to-perform suggestions for better conditioning one’s body during the offseason and throughout the year.
For the lower body, the base and foundation of every golf swing, Sharpless recommends a Chair Squat, which can be performed at home without weights or modified for more advanced workouts in the gym. The keys to safely and effectively executing a Chair Squat are maintaining proper posture and remembering to push up with one’s heels, not with the balls of the feet or toes.

For the upper body, Sharpless recommends an Elevated Pushup, a new twist on an old favorite. Elevated Pushups allow for greater variety and control while eliminating the difficulty many people have performing a traditional ground-based pushup. Maintaining proper hand and foot position are critical to successfully introducing Elevated Pushups to your strength and conditioning routine.
